Hugh died on 10 November 1871 at Dunedin, Otago, New ZealandG, At the time of his death her was normally residing at Forth Street, Dunedin. at age at an unknown age .2 He was buried on 14 November 1871 at Southern Cemetery, Great Southern Road, Dunedin, New ZealandG.2

     Grace was born on 20 August 1801 at Burrowstouness, Linlithgow, West Lothian, ScotlandG. She was christened on 30 August 1801 at Burrowstouness, Linlithgow, West Lothian, ScotlandG.
She married Hugh Johnston. Her married name was Johnston. Grace Ross Meikle and Hugh Johnston arrived on 13 July 1858 to Port Chalmers, Dunedin, New ZealandG; Three Bells which was 602 tons, under Captain Rowley, sailed from Glasgow March 20th, arrived July 13th. Passengers, 325.1 Grace arrived on 13 July 1858.
Grace died on 9 May 1879 at West Hawksbury, Dunedin, New ZealandG, At the time of her death she was residing in nearby Waikouaiti at age 77.2 Her body was interred on 12 May 1879 at Southern Cemetery, Dunedin, New ZealandG, at the Great Southern Road.3

She married Brig. William Henry Scott CMG DSO on 26 June 1912 at Middle Brighton, VictoriaG.
From "The Argus" , July 3 1912, page 9:
"SCOTT-CARTER. —On the 26th June, at St. Andrew's, Middle Brighton, by the Rev. E. A. Crawford, William Henry, second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Scott, Elsternwick, late Casterton, to Rosamond Maplesden, youngest daughter of Mrs. Carter, Claremont, Middle Brighton, and the late W. J. Carter, Tarrington Station, Hamilton.". Rosamond appeared on the Australian electoral roll of 1917 and listed as living at Murdock Road, Wangarratta, VictoriaG. Rosamond had a listed occupation of home duties and he of Engineer. Her estate was probated on 5 January 1940 at Melbourne, VictoriaG.
Rosamond Maplesden Carter died on 5 January 1940 at East Melbourne, VictoriaG, at age 50.

This needs to be worked through..
