William Henry Ellis (2) married Emily Selina Susannah Allwright, daughter of Thomas Allwright and Mary Ann Mathews, on 25 April 1883 at St. Matthews Anglican Church, New Norfolk, Tasmania. At the time he was listed as a Storekeeper and she as a Spinster.2 The funeral of William Henry Ellis (2) was conducted on 13 January 1933. Reported in Hobart in The Mercury on Saturday 14 January 1933 it read:

FUNERAL AT HOBART.
The funeral took place yesterday at the Cornelian Bay Cemetery of Mr. William Henry Ellis. Until he retired two years ago Mr. Ellis was the chairman of directors of the firm of H. W. Ellis and Sons Ltd., Kempton. Mr. Ellis, who was in his 75th year, would this year have celebrated his golden wedding. During 1933 the centenary of the firm of which he was chairman of directors also fell due. He had always been a most conscientious worker, and had devoted the whole of his time to his family and his business, having no outside interests.
The Rev. C. Allen conducted the service at the graveside. The chief mourners were Messrs. F. and L. Ellis (brothers), A. P. Crisp and H. Pearce (sons-in-law). Among those present were Senator Payne, the Warden of New Norfolk (Mr. T. Andrews), Messrs. F. W. Heritage, G. South, Russell lbbott, L. F. Piesse, J. O. Turner, A. Gorringe, F. Lodge, R. Watchorn, A. T. Davis, D. and T. Fitzgerald, H. Risby, A. Pearce, H. Ellis, F. and B. Johnson, T. Tabart, and many others, including representatives of commercial Interests.
Among the floral tributes were wreaths from Henry Berry and Co. Ltd., directors of Charles Davis Ltd, the staff of H. W. Ellis and Sons Ltd., Kempton, Bothwell, and the Ouse, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Turner, Mr. T. Fitzgerald, Colwell family, Mr. and Mrs. A. Davis, Mrs. F. E. Johnson, the Haddon family, Miss Esther, Mr. and Mrs. Hobbs, Mr. L. F. Piesse and family, and Mr. J. White."

Farmer and Pastoralist, "Riversdale," Richmond, was born at Kempton (Green Ponds) in 1842, and educated at Mr. J. 0. 0. McArdell's Mornington School, Bellerive. Having completed his scholastic studies, Mr. Ellis adopted pastoral pursuits in partnership with his late brother, Mr. Vincent Ellis, on the estate of "Pleasant Place," near the River Jordan: At his brother's death, Mr. Charles Ellis took over the property entirely, and remained there about three and a half years, when he removed to "Ponsonby Vale" Station. After working this estate for a couple of years he rented “Riversdale," in the Richmond district, and subsequently purchased it. This property has an area of 2300 acres, all splendid pastoral land. Mr. Ellis is also the proprietor of the "Colebrook Dale" Station, which comprises 2200 acres. He runs a large number of sheep, cattle, and horses, and has about 320 acres of land under cereals. It is, how- ever, to the dairying industry that he devotes special attention; an average- of twenty-five cows being milked daily. Mr. Ellis supplies Mr. P. J. Nicholl's butter factory with from forty to forty-five gallons of milk per day, and the Country Milk Supply Company, of Hobart, with up to thirty-five gallons per day, a quantity he expects very shortly to increase by twenty gallons. He is a large shareholder in this company and takes a deep interest it’s working. Mr. Ellis was elected a councilor of the Richmond Municipal Council on 7th December, 1893, and has been re-elected each time his seat has become vacant by effluxion of time He is a member of the local Road Trust and Board of Advice. Mr. Ellis was appointed' a justice of the peace for the Richmond district some years ago. He is a widower, and has six sons, two of whom assist him in the management of his estates and dairy.

After working this estate for a couple of years he rented “Riversdale," in the Richmond district, and subsequently purchased it. This property has an area of 2300 acres, all splendid pastoral land. Mr. Ellis is also the proprietor of the "Colebrook Dale" Station, which comprises 2200 acres. He runs a large number of sheep, cattle, and horses, and has about 320 acres of land under cereals. It is, how- ever, to the dairying industry that he devotes special attention; an average- of twenty-five cows being milked daily. Mr. Ellis supplies Mr. P. J. Nicholl's butter factory with from forty to forty-five gallons of milk per day, and the Country Milk Supply Company, of Hobart, with up to thirty-five gallons per day, a quantity he expects very shortly to increase by twenty gallons. He is a large shareholder in this company and takes a deep interest it’s working. Mr. Ellis was elected a councilor of the Richmond Municipal Council on 7th December, 1893, and has been re-elected each time his seat has become vacant by effluxion of time He is a member of the local Road Trust and Board of Advice. Mr. Ellis was appointed' a justice of the peace for the Richmond district some years ago. He is a widower, and has six sons, two of whom assist him in the management of his estates and dairy.
