John Herrod married Elizabeth Jane Strahan, daughter of Charles Strachan and Elizabeth Christie, on 18 September 1883 at the Wesleyan Parsonage, Daylesford, Victoria. They were married by the Wesleyan Minister James Walter Crisp. Both were living in their usual place of residence in Barkstead, southish of Daylesford.² John Herrod was a Miner at the time of his marriage according to his Marriage Certificate. He was a "Timber Worker" according to the death certificate of his son Charles in 1961.
John Herrod died on 4 May 1919 at 87 Greaves Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne.³ He was buried on 5 May 1919 at Springvale Cemetery, Melbourne.

     Elizabeth Jane Strahan was born circa 1866 at Rocky Lead, Victoria.
Elizabeth Jane Strahan married John Herrod, son of Samuel Herrod and Sarah Clinch, on 18 September 1883 at the Wesleyan Parsonage, Daylesford, Victoria. They were married by the Wesleyan Minister James Walter Crisp. Both were living in their usual place of residence in Barkstead, southish of Daylesford.¹ Her married name was Herrod. Elizabeth Jane Strahan died on 12 July 1943 at home at 40 Nicholson Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne. She died of Uraemia which she had been suffering for 3 days. This no doubt the result of suffering from Hyperpiesis and Nephritis for three to four years; according to her doctor, Dr J Spring who saw her on the day of her death.² She was buried on 14 July 1943 at Fawkner General Cemetery, Fawkner, Melbourne.

Roderick Matheson married Teresa Carmody in 1898 at Victoria. Reg Vic No: 784/1898.¹ Roderick Matheson was He was a Sea Captain according to his daughter's death certificate. This would probably account for them living in Geelong.²
Roderick Matheson died in 1940 at Williamstown, Victoria, at age 71 years. His Reg Vic No: 10322/1940. He was buried on 14 October 1940 at Williamstown Cemetery, Champion Road, Williamstown, Victoria. Roman Catholic section RC*B*5**4.³

     Her married name was Matheson. Teresa Carmody was born in 1863 at Auckland, New Zealand.

     Margaret Dorothy Robertson was also known as Madge. She was born on 4 April 1893 at Deniliquin, NSW. As of 1923,her married name was Bayliss.
Margaret Dorothy Robertson married George Walter Bayliss, son of Phillip Bayliss and Matilda Mary Symons, in 1923 at Deniliquin, New South Wales.
Margaret Dorothy Robertson died on 19 May 1965 at Rydalmere, NSW, at age 72.

George Edward Sturgess married Mary Ann Viverus Tabart, daughter of John Lewes Benjamin Tabart and Elizabeth Lewis, on 8 November 1897 at Launceston, Tasmania.¹ George Edward Sturgess was also known as Sturges. This is how he signed his name on his Certificate of Marriage and as it was entered.  During 1902, [N] was petitioned for Bankruptcy in The Supreme Court of Tasmania. Initiated in Launceston where most debt was due he petioned for it to be transferred to Hobart where he must have been residing. This was granted. The total debt due was £121-16-10. In the evidence before the Court he was described as a "Town Clerk".
George Edward Sturgess died on 14 November 1937 at State Hospital and Homes, Lidcombe, NSW. George died from Tubercular Meningitis. He was listed as being a "Saw Sharpener" at the time of his death. This Certificate also listed his "usual residence" as being in Canberra which might indicate that he was transferred to Lidcombe because of the nature of his illness.
His Death Certificate also lists some information which differences to other sources which someone might like to investigate. He is listed as being born in Tasmania and having lived for 11 years in NSW. He was also known to have spent part of his crimnal career in Melbourne/Victoria. If 11 years in NSW, when and how long in Canberra?
His Death Certificate also states that he was married in Sydney NSW 25 years before death, ie 1912, to a Mary Anne. Further his only listed children are Doris and Cyril so that Muriel did not get a mention.² He was buried on 16 November 1937 at Rookwood General Cemetery, Sydney, New South Wales. He is burried in Zone C, Section NN and Grave Number 5120. This is described on his Death Certificate as being part of the Church of England area.²
