Children at home at that time were Ceclia (7), Elizabeth (4), John (12), Robert (11) and then Mary (61) who is listed as "Mother in Law.. He was described in the census as a "Coast Guard Officer - Navy". Given this Navy connection this would explain why the diversity of birth places for their children. in 1861.¹ He appeared on the census of 1881 at Towans Road, Uny Lelant, St Ives, Cornwall, England, He was Head of household and listed as 60 years old. Elizabeth came next as his wife aged 53 then the children; Celia (27 "unm") Robert (20 "unm" and Agr. Labourer) Edwards Jas (13 "unm" Scholar) and William (12 Scholar). At this stage Robert was listed as a Farmer "about 150 acres".. He appeared on the census of 1891 at Church Road, Lelant, Cornwall, England, He is described as a retired famer and with him for the census were Elizabeth (63) his wife, Celia (37 single) daughter, Edward (23 single) son..
Robert Woodward died. The most likely recorded death for Robert is in the 3rd quarter of 1899 where a Robert Woodward is recorded as having died at age 80 in Penzance, Cornwall. [Vol 5c. Page 151]. Further investigation would be needed.
