"Borrows-Martin A pretty wedding took place at St. David's Presbyterian Church yesterday afternoon when Miss Myrtle Martin, daughter of Mr Angus Martin, of Caulfield, Melbourne, was married to Mr William L. Borrows, Son of Mr and Mrs R.A. Borrows, of Pentone. The Rev. J. Mc Caw performed the ceremony. The Bride looked the picture of happiness and was attired in a beautiful dress of white charmeuse and wore an embroided veil and orange blossoms. She was attended by Miss Stella Pearce, of South Jana, Melbourne (Sth Yarra ? ), as Bridesmaid. She wore a prettily made dress of pale heliotrope with hat to match. Mr Fred Brockelbank carried out the duties of best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at Clinton House where the usual complimentary toasts were proposed and honoured. The young couple left on a honeymoon trip through the North Island, the bride's travelling dress being a smart navy blue costume. Barber's superb motor-cars were used for the occassion." Myrtle was born in 1896 at Brunswick, Melbourne, VictoriaG.1 As of 1923,her married name was Borrows.2

     William was thought to be a first cousin of his wife, Myrtle.

William was a Chemist. William Leonard Borrows was also known as William Burrows. He was born in 1895 at New ZealandG. He began military service at 155 Jackson Street, Petone, New ZealandG, during WW I. His New Zealand Regimental number was 1/358 where he was a Private with B Company. His mother was listed as Mrs G Borrows.
He rose through the ranks to become a Seageant and listed his next of Kin as Mr/Mrs R A Borrows still of Jackson Street, Petone, Wellington NZ. He arrived in October 1919 to VictoriaG; He arrived by ship aboard the Westralia.1
He married Myrtle Irene Martin in 1923 at St Davids Presbyterian Church, New Zealand.

     Wallace Ingles called her "Mummy May" as she brought him up for a small number of years before being forced out of this role by other members of the family. She came to Melbourne in about January 1913, where she died, unmarried, at the relatively young age of 27. Her was commonly known as May. Mahala was born on 24 May 1887 at Oatlands, TasmaniaG.
Mahala died on 30 June 1914 at Melbourne Hospital at East Melbourne, VictoriaG, Suppurative Cholangitis at age 27. Although she died in Hospital she was resident at the time, according to her Death Certificate, at "Loyola", Ormond Road, Ascot Vale.. Her body was interred on 1 July 1914 at Fawkner General Cemetery, MelbourneG, at the Fawkner.
